| Traxx - five hours, five stars |
 He was billed to play for four hours but ended up playing for over five - Traxx set Void @ The Shelter alight with a DJ performance the likes of which Shanghai has surely never seen before. He bamboozled the crowd with a dark, dirty set which started off with a slow and acidic number over a Martin Luther King voice over, before he proceeded to wreak havoc on the dancefloor with a very raw selection of tunes all and new
Not only did he invent new compositions on the fly, seemlessly integrating everything from Chicago acid house to new wave synth pop from the 80, but his sheer enthusiasm and mesmirizing range of facial expressions as he worked the decks kept even those not so into the music thoroughly entertained. He also accompanied his contagiously wild enthusiasm with a range of amusing gestures and other body moves behind the decks, like a crazed magician casting spells on the dark, sweaty dancefloor. But musically, Traxx took the Void massive on a deep, dark, funky and jackin' journey which told his musical story - and then some.
Traxx is of course a veteran of the Chicago scene but not many in Shanghai had heard of him before his appearance. Now, surely none who were present will forget his name after bearing witness to a truly unique and spell binding performance.
